During the closing five years of the 20th century, I researched and wrote my Ph.D. thesis, God and Dipolarity (The University of Auckland). It was then that I first came across early Taoism, and a translation of the Tao Te Ching. Twenty years later, I spent the first Covid lockdown here in New Zealand (March and May 2020) reading and researching early Taoism, and then again when I had time during the remainder of 2020. This research and writing on the Tao has continued to the present.
